An artwork for  D&AD Student Awards 2012, Little White Lies Brief. This artwork was only done for college assignment purpose.  The chosen movie is The Black Swan.

The reason why I chose the movie “Black Swan” was because; it was an intense psychological thriller describing a ballet dancer’s metamorphosis into the “Black Swan”.  With these keywords highlighted in bold I’ve came up with my final artwork concept portraying Nina’s split personality. Whereby half of her face shows fear and vulnerability, the other half shows the bold and fearless side of her

The art style of my final artwork is using geometric shapes to form the character’s face and features, like she has a "diamond skin". The reason why I choose this art style is because, Nina is a shy and fragile (like a glass) young woman is chosen to play the role of the Swan Queen and must therefore embody both the pure White Swan and the evil Black Swan.

Nonetheless, Nina’s obsession to strive for perfection (like a diamond) during her performance leads to self-destruction. Nina’s personality is as fragile as glass and easily broken but using the diamond effect as my art style on her facial features to show the coldness and hardness that is growing within her. A cut diamond effect with faces was used to  project Nina’s split personality. The colour of the diamond effect is transparent with blue-ish hue to emphasize the coldness of her new and dominant personality.
